The AIME 07 conference will be held in Amsterdam starting from 07/07/07. AIME 07 is a unique opportunity to present and improve the international state of the art of AI in biomedical research from both perspectives of methodology and application. AIME 07 will include invited lectures, full and short papers, tutorials, workshops, and a doctoral consortium. The conference will be held in De Rode Hoed, which is a beautiful historic building in the centre of Amsterdam.

Program Committee Chair: Riccardo Bellazzi, University of Pavia, Italy

Local Organization Chair: Ameen Abu-Hanna, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Doctoral Consortium Chair: Jim Hunter, University of Aberdeen, UK

17 April 2007 Camera-ready papers deadline

09-11 July 2007 AIME 07 Scientific Sessions

Original long and short papers are sought on the development of theory, systems, and applications of AI in Medicine, including the exploitation of AI approaches to molecular medicine and biomedical informatics. Contributions to theory may include presentation or analysis of the properties of novel AI methods potentially useful in solving medical problems. Papers addressing theory should describe the development or the extension of AI methods and discuss the assumptions and limitations of the proposed methods and their novelty with respect to the state of the art. Papers addressing systems should describe the requirements, design and implementation of new AI-inspired tools and systems, and discuss their applicability in the medical field. Application papers should describe the implementation of AI systems to solve significant medical problems, and should present sufficient information to allow evaluation of the practical benefits of the system.

The scope of the conference includes topics such as:

Knowledge Acquisition and Management; Biomedical Ontologies and Terminologies; Machine Learning, Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining; Decision Support Systems; AI and Statistical Approaches: Decision Trees and Bayesian Belief Networks; Case-Based Reasoning, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Systems and Soft Computing; Spatial and Temporal Reasoning; Qualitative Modelling; Protocols, Guidelines, and Workflow Models; Natural Language Processing: Generation and Understanding; Biomedical Computer Vision, Imaging and Signal Interpretation; Intelligent Agents, Cooperative and Distributed Systems; Information Retrieval; Cognitive Modelling.

3) CALL FOR WORKSHOPS AND TUTORIALS

Contact: Ameen Abu-Hanna (a.abu-hanna@amc.uva.nl )

IMPORTANT DATES

15 Nov 2006 Deadline for proposals

01 Dec 2006 Notification of acceptance

15 May 2007 Camera-ready materials

07 Jul 2007 Tutorials at AIME 07

08 Jul 2007 Workshops at AIME 07

Workshops will address selected technical topics. They should have an informal atmosphere and will last for half or a whole day with ample time allotted for general discussion. A workshop will typically attract 20 to 40 participants. Tutorials focus on topics relating to theoretical and applied aspects of AI in Biomedicine. They will last for 4 hours and will typically attract up to 20

participants. Attendees at tutorials and workshops do not necessarily need to register for the main AIME 07 conference.

4) CALL FOR DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM SUBMISSIONS

Contact: Jim Hunter (jhunter@csd.abdn.ac.uk)

IMPORTANT DATES

27 March 2007 Paper submission deadline

01 May 2007 Notification of acceptance

15 May 2007 Camera-ready papers deadline

07 July 2007 Doctoral Consortium at AIME 07

The aim of the AIME 07 Doctoral Consortium is to support the research done by doctoral students with constructive remarks and feedback from prominent scientists in the AIM field. About 6 - 8 Ph.D. students will make presentations, which will be commented on by two members of a panel with substantial experience in the field. The session will conclude with a discussion of general questions related to Ph.D. research.

PARALLEL BIO-COMPUTING 2007

Workshop on Parallel Computational Biology, Gdansk, Poland
September 9-12, 2007

Submission Deadline: April 29th, 2007

http://pbc.pcz.pl

Bioinformatics is the science of managing, mining, and interpreting information
from biological sequences and structures. This is an exciting and emerging topic
that requires solving hard computational problems and handling large volumes of
data. Many new challenges in the life sciences require high performance
computing.

The goal of this Workshop is to present the latest research in high-performance
computing applied to bioinformatics. We are especially interested in parallel
and distributed algorithms, memory efficient algorithms, and design of
high-performance software for clusters, massively parallel systems and grids.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

* Bioinformatic databases
* Computational genomics and proteomics
* DNA assembly, clustering, and mapping
* Gene expression and microarrays
* Gene identification and annotation
* Molecular sequence analysis
* Phylogeny reconstruction algorithms
* Protein structure prediction and modelling
* Parallel algorithms for biological analysis
* Parallel architectures for biological applications
* System tools that support large scale high-performance bio-computing

The PBC Workshop will be held in conjunction with the Seventh International
Conference on Parallel Processing and Applied Mathematics PPAM 2007, Gdansk,
Poland, September 9-12, 2007 (http://ppam.pcz.pl).

Paper Submission and Publication

The workshop will consist of dedicated sessions containing selected papers.
Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their originality,
scientific merit and relevance to the Workshop topics. Papers presented during
Workshop will be included into the proceedings of PPAM and published after the
conference by Springer-Verlag in the LNCS series.

Information regarding paper preparation and submission will be announced soon.
